Brush Country Retrievers

Sept 6-7 / 13-14,2008  special south zone  dove hunt openening  weekend.

Welcome to our Website.
Please make yourself at home and get to know our hunting family.  Our main reason for creating this site is to spread the joy and love that we have for our labradors and the opportunity we extend to our friends and fellow hunters on our available hunts.

We are located in San Antonio,Texas and own a ranch in deep south Texas (Maverick County) that is home to a wide array of wildlife which inlcudes, whitetail deer, doves, turkey, quail, javalina, predators and of course wild pigs.

Like many of you, we began our search for a good hunting "Buddy" and the perfect addition to our family... So, on February 2, 2005 "Buddy" joined our family.  He seemed like the perfect son and loved going with us everywhere we went, especially the ranch!  When it came time for him to go to his trainer, Paul Cordova of La Paloma Retrievers, our original request was for the best hunting dog that wouldn't embarrass us when we were out hunting with our friends and customers, which Paul said would be no problem at all!  However, the fact that he was spoiled rotten offered Paul a couple of challeges.

We met Paul at the Fall 2005 Hunt Test (something we knew nothing about) in October 2005, to drop off Buddy.  Needless to say, that was the beginning of the rest of our lives.  After Buddy had been in training a couple of months, we saw a DRASTIC improvement in our baby boy!  And, because Paul runs his dogs in hunt test competitions, he would take Buddy with him on the weekends and compete with him as well, after seeing Buddy at one of the test, we were hooked!!!!
Buddy was also trained by Pro Trainer Rody Best of Best Retrievers located in Paige Texas who took him to his intermediate level of competition. From there Walter  has excelled into their finished and advanced level of work.

Buddy has currently earned his HRCH title in HRC and SH title in AKC, and we are currently working towards his advanced and finished level of competition.  Every day is a new day and I learn something new about him each time we go out to work... Personally to me its a challenge and a well earned therapy.

Now that we are a little wiser in the world of hunt test, we have added a daughter to our family, named Rebel's Lucky Little English's Lady, who has a lot more drive, power, stamina, and a more competitive bloodline.  She came to our home on March 18, 2006 an didn't have any problem "Jumping In" our routine.  In fact, she thought she was just as BIG as Buddy and wanted to do everything that he did!  Including retrieving ducks that were twice her size and swimming in the lake.

On August 1,2007, I have yet added another addition to the family, She is a beautiful yellow female pup out of a JH titled FC AFC Rebel with A Cause bitch and AFC Hawkeyes Viking. We purchased her from RCL Retrievers.  I named her English's Hot B Cause O' Viking "Cali is her call name and she has proven to be "Cali" which is short for Caliente meaning "HOT" in spanish, she's a FIREBALL.  I intend to compete in the highest levels of competition with her from the MN & SRS...
